Microcephaly by Zika Virus in Thailand Emerging Infectious Diseases

Abstract

We report a confirmed case of congenital Zika virus infection with microcephaly (CZVIM) caused by autochthonous infection at week 9 of pregnancy with Zika virus (ZIKV) from Thailand. The complete viral genome sequence was determined for virus isolated from brain of aborted fetus, placenta and amniotic fluid.
