At the certificate level, the goals are to deepen knowledge and increase skills, ability to apply biomedical informatics principles and methods within an area of practice and to conceptualize, plan, conduct and report an applied Biomedical Informatics project. The graduate programs in biomedical informatics offers a graduate certificate in three tacks. These three tracks include:
- Clinical Informatics — Generating, managing and using information and information systems in health care settings.
- Clinical Research Informatics — The use of data to design, conduct and report clinical studies.
- Imaging Informatics — The acquisition, management and processing of clinical images in healthcare and research.
Graduate Certificate — 15 Credits
Program Objectives
To deepen knowledge and increase skills, ability to apply biomedical informatics principles and methods within an area of clinical practice and to conceptualize, plan, conduct and report an applied Biomedical Informatics project.
Graduate Certificate Requirements
The graduate certificate program is open to those who already hold a four year undergraduate degree or are enrolled in the last year of a four year undergraduate program.
Coursework
- Biomedical Informatics Core: three hours
- Practicum project: three hours
- Certificate coursework: nine hours
Certificate coursework consists of eight credit hours of relevant coursework, usually from the specialty track courses, chosen by the student and the student’s Advisor to meet the student’s personal educational goals.
